First Bid

First Bid is a short competitive card duel against an AI. Two rival energy companies bid for contracts to power a near-future city. Every coin you bid is a coin you don't invest, and what you spend this round decides who wins ties next round.

How it plays

• Six rounds, about 10 minutes per game
• Each round, three contracts hit the market
• You and the AI bid coins in secret. The higher bid picks first, the other player picks second, and the leftover contract gains a bonus for next round
• Ties go to whoever spent less last round, so overspending has a cost
• Income contracts win the long game, point contracts win now. Choose wisely

Three AI opponents

• Easy: learn the rules and find your footing
• Medium: reads the game state and bids greedily
• Hard: simulates possible bids and endings before every move

Status

First Bid is in active development and is the first game from Arambit, a small indie studio from Germany making strategy games. It is a testbed for the economy and AI ideas behind our first bigger game. Feedback is very welcome in the comments.
